Panama! Caribbean Living – Safe – Inexpensive – No Hurricanes!
Panama was rated as the No.1 place in the world to retire abroad in
the June edition of Smart Money magazine.
With
one ‘baby-boomer’ retiring every 6 seconds in the US a lot of people are looking
for a new, better, cheaper (in some cases, safer) place to live. Maybe It’s time
Noriega has been gone for over a decade, and the US army left years ago and even
the Panamanian army has been disbanded because they weren’t needed.
Everyone
that has traveled here has found there’s a lot more here than the
Panama Canal, as you will see in this site!
The James Bond Movie “Quantum
of Solace” was filmed here! Check out the best
Bond Girl ever!
You can enjoy the beautiful Caribbean and Pacific
and NEVER A HURRICANE!!
With 30 per cent of its land set aside
for conservation and 940 bird species (more than in all of North America),
Panama possesses 12 national parks and 1,518 islands, is bordered by both the
Pacific and Caribbean oceans and offers beach, mountain or city life and an open
door policy to investors and retirees alike.

Many Economies around the world are in a downward spiral, (especially Real Estate, while Panama’s Real Estate and Investments are still on the up!
Panama has an annual income of two billion dollars just from
the Panama Canal! Imagine that much money spread amongst 3.3 million people! It
is significant. Tourism in 2007 brought in $1.1 billion and
will increase over the next few years. Panama also generates income from trade,
mining and other raw materials.
Whether you
want to just have an incredible holiday or move abroad, Panama could well be
that place you are looking for
If you are a nature
lover, then this is a great place to have your own private beach on the ocean
and enjoy the many plants and animals that fill this country with beauty. You
can even buy your own farm here for a few hundred thousand dollars and opt out
of the modern world entirely!
surfing href=”http://www.everything-panama.com/2009/08/12/surfing-in-panama/”>are second to none!

rain forests are magnificent, with a large variety of birds (including
colorful Toucans and parrots), monkeys, waterfalls, gorgeous trees and
vegetation of all kinds. Pick your own bananas and other fruits, and go swimming
under the waterfalls on your hike or go kayaking through the many picturesque
streams running through Panama.

Many are discovering the beautiful panoramic mountain region of
Boquete, with its year-round spring weather, brisk, clean air and home grown
coffee.

Your American dollar goes twice as far than it does in the US.
Panama does not print it’s own currency, so they save a massive amount of money
to the central bank and printing costs. The American currency has been floating
freely here since about 1904.
A couple can live somewhere like
Bocas del Toro, very comfortably, with an income of $1300 a month
that includes all your bills and entertainment! Even in Panama City
where rents are quite a bit higher, a couple can do the same on $2100 a month.
If you purchase your own home it will be considerably less, of course.
Talking about ‘Bang-for-Your-Buck’, here’s a sampling of what Panama offers
right now……
restaurants have a fresh fish or a wonderful free-range T-Bone steak dinner
for under $10.00! In most bars a beer is 1 dollar (50c in the countryside) and a
Rum and Coke or a Long Island Ice-Tea is rarely over 2 bucks. Rather go to the
movies? See top live bands? Go to the theater? then you can do that too AND much
more at really cheap prices!
You won’t believe what the retirement
benefits and discounts are, or just for someone with a guaranteed income !!They
take care of you here much better than most Countries do.Click on the
retirement page to see!!
Panama is a place where you can own a corporation or buy island property and
still have enough left for the a great bottle of rum
($5),Cuban cigar($5), Fine bottle of Wine from Argentina or Chile($3)and fresh,
local seafood that(not much) money can buy! or just go and catch that Marlin!
Panama actually means “Abundance of Fish”.
Food! The choices are of anything European, Thai, Chinese, French,
Spanish or American! The fresh seafood and the Steaks are great in Panama!
Costa Rica is Yesterday..Panama is Now!
You can still buy 1 acre of
beach property on the ocean for your new home for under $40,000. As far as
real-estate overall goes in Panama, think Costa Rica 15 years ago, only with
most of the property actually being Title Deeded. On a titled property, you don’t
have to take “squatters” into consideration. It’s yours! Real estate prices are
estimated to be around 20% of what they will be in the next 5-10 years, so this
invest!
Be Wary of the Condo ‘Gold Rush’
Remember
how that bubble burst in Florida, and other places around the US? Be on
guard! It makes no sense to try and “flip” a Condo that isn’t built yet!!
There are greedy Developers here in Central America, just like the ones in North
America. They will push the same story about being in high-rise on the water,
but when not enough people buy and they run out of financing, they will literally
leave you “high and dry”! My advise is, don’t bite until the S.P.I is at 65% or
better! Otherwise, you could end up buying a place that will never be finished.
If you buy to rent in Panama City you can earn between 10-15% return as rents
are high. But you must know where and how to invest wisely!
Shore-Banking in Panama!
The banks are more reliable than in most
countries because they will not tax it and keep it confidential. Off-shore
banking & investing takes a back-seat only to Hong Kong worldwide.
There are
many incentives and tax-breaks for setting up a business here… such as 20
years tax free for investing a minimum of $50,000 in tourism! Go to the
The Law on Tax Incentives link for full info on that.
Surfing in
these Oceans is among the best in the world (check it out for yourself

It’s difficult to summarize Panama in one neat little box, because it offers so
climate and lifestyle. You can be sure that the climate is warm and
comfortable all year round at approximately 85 degrees. It is tropical, so some
areas receive more rain and humidity. All the highland areas have cooler
temperature and less humidity. From December to about April or May, they call it
their. Basically, the humidity drops and it rarely rains anywhere!
Let’s take a closer look at each area…..
We’ll start with Panama
City. Over 30% of the 3.3 million people that live in Panama live in this
wondrous modern city. Panama City has all the features that people look for in a
big city. It has the feel of a place like Miami or a warmer Boston.
Donald Trump is building a 21st century skyscraper in Punta Pacifica with
beautiful Condos, a Hotel, Spas, and the largest Casino in all of Latin America.
There are many more huge skyscrapers on the Manhattan-style skyline – if you
like to live up high.
If you prefer chic French Colonial-New Orleans style
living, then check out the beautiful suburb of Casco Viejo. Captain Morgan,
Francis Drake and many other pirates have had some amazing adventures down
Panama City

You will enjoy elegant restaurants that offer all types of food and large wine
lists, large grocery stores with American–style choices, going to theaters, and
lots of bars with live entertainment, broadband, 150+ channels of cable TV. The
coffee grown here is arguably the best
coffee you’ll ever have in your life, and you know about Panama and Cuban
cigars!
American trained doctors, great hospitals (like National and John
Hopkins)for half the price of the US, then living in the Capital City( or close)
may be for you.
medical tourism and enjoy the country enough to come back for more visits.
If the noise of construction and the constant honking, car alarms and traffic of
Panama City get to you, you can choose something laid back. Everywhere else is
laid back in Panama! There’s plenty to choose from.
