Snowbirds in Panama

Snowbirds (incase you are unfamiliar with the term) are mostly retired middle class people from America and Canada who move somewhere warm for a few months to avoid the snows of winter.
They are a new phenomena which has occured only in the last couple of decades as retirees found themselves with money and good health and a desire for adventure.
Traditionally their homing ground was Florida. As prices have gone up there in parallel with crime and overbuilding this interesting breed has started to look further afield. Panama is the new snowbird destination. Why? Well, most importantly it is WARM! Then of course the people are friendly and many speak English, the prices of property are affordable, there is golf,
fishing
, scuba diving, birdwatching and walking to be done in some of the most beautiful countryside and warm seas in the world. You can buy almost anything in Panama, the food is good, varied and cheap and with a low crime rate the migrating warmth loving birds feel safe in Panama.
A Place for Every Kind of Snowbird

Panama also offers an environment for everyone – cool fresh mountains in the Boquete region, hot white sandy beaches in the Bocas region and exciting city life in Panama City. These visiting birds usually prefer apartments to nest in (which they buy or rent) and they are partial to condos that offer security, swimming pools, tennis courts, spas and maintenance.
House swaps might be good for a snowbird!
Panama likes Snowbirds
These migrating souls have a very positive effect on the economy in Panama and the government welcomes them with open arms. If they decide to stay on they make life easy with retiree residence
visas.
Our little feathered friends want a nicely furnished place complete with dishes, linens, TV, telephone for local calls and an Internet connection. Once a bird finds a comfortable place to return to annually, they often acquire other items that make life comfortable while in Panama. These include a computer, additional furniture beyond the basics, kitchen appliances including a microwave, books and bookshelves, art and pretty things for the house just to mention a few. They also travel around in hire cars, on planes and on buses and eat out a lot in restaurants. They buy
real estate too!
It’s all good news for the Panamanian GNP.
It’s good news too for all you people out there looking for a place that guarantees warm weather and a good time all at a low cost just 2hrs 40 mins out of Miami.
Forget another winter of rain, snow, ice and grey skies, put on your sunglasses and fly out to Panama!
