Hotel Angela, Bocas del Toro

The hotel has 12 double rooms and a large suite with kitchen and lounge overlooking the Caribbean. The owner Caudio who has had the hotel for 11 years has created an almost magical place where everyone staying there automatically starts talking and becomes friends. Everyone wants to come back.
The bar at Hotel Angela has happy hour from 5pm until 6.30pm with some fabulous cocktails like Mohito using fragrant wild limes from Claudio's farm and the mint from just outside the door or sweet creamy Pina Colada's made with local rum.
The restaurant's evening menu is delicious with fresh caught fish, prawns and lobster from the reef as well as specialities like baby back ribs and coconut cake. Some of the vegetables now come from Claudio's farm. The chef will also come and talk to you about what she has and make up something special for you.The Hotel's boat which takes up to 8 people is available everyday to take you on various tours of the islands for $20 per person. There are 4 rooms at $40 a night which are small and have windows mostly looking to the interior of the hotel or the lobby. The beds are comfortable though and fine for a few nights.Then there are 8 rooms at between $45 and $75, some with a sofa bed and some with balconies. For over two guests in a room there is a $12 charge per person. The deluxe suite on the top floor is marvelous with a queen sized bed and a sofabed and a fully equipped kitchen, dining table and en-suite bathroom with jacuzzi as well as views of the sea. The bar, lounge and restaurant area is built over the water on a dock from which you can fish and pick up passing water taxis. Breakfast is served here and then lunch is available from 1pm with dinner from 7pm although if someone is in the kitchen you can usually get something tasty made at most times of the day. This is a great place to connect up to the internet and check your emails. If you did not bring your own computer Claudio will lend you his.
